My X5 35d introduction

Hello-

Just thought I'd introduce myself and my new-to-me 2012 e70 35d that I just picked up a few weeks back. I've been on the search for something bigger for my daily driver (Traded in a '08 B7 A4- never buying another Audi again) and have been slacking on my decision over the past year or so. So I finally sat down and found exactly what I was looking for last month- found this tasty e70 with 57k on the clock for a great price. Black Nevada interior with the Sport, Sound, Premium and Comfort packages. Just missing the technology package. Originally looked for the brown interior, but once I saw one in person it didn't flow as good as the all black.

Anyway I picked this one up in Central Jersey at a BMW dealer- it was a trade-in lease for an F15 with a third row. When I picked it up, the internal music hard drive was packed with "Hits of the 50's" so I can tell it was owned by an older gentleman who obviously took great care of it. Let's just say that I did the math and I purchased this for 62% off the invoice price just three years ago. Talk about depreciation!

I was living in Greenville, SC for two years until I recently moved back home to North-East PA. I have a good group of friends who work at the BMW Greer Plant and have been giving me directions on this thing (along with BMW Employee Discounts The X3,4,5,6 Greer SC plant is something everyone should see- its crazy watching these things being built.
In the past few weeks, I've tinted the front windows 20% and 35% in the rears to blend it- and it blends perfectly (I'm very picky). One of the front wheels has a nice section of curb rash so I ended up plastidipping them black (yeah I know- its temporary and basically wanted to see what it would look like with black wheels) Painted the front kidneys and upper mesh grille. Need to remove the bumper and do the lower grille- I wish BMW just made these black to begin with....

I've also done the Carly BMWhat app modifications (such a huge improvement from using VAG-COM) and installed LED interior bulbs. I also had to perform a "Coinsectomy" with $.11 that was rolling around in the center console. 3h later- I was coin free. Overall the job was fairly easy- I just need to get used to working with more plastic clips than I'm used too with the older BMW's.

Over the next few months, I'll be looking into the Burger JBD chip to give it some extra getup. Eventually installing the tow package. I'm really digging the diesel however- I think I made a great choice over the gassers.

But I plan on keeping this for the foreseeable future, I'm a big fan of older BMW's and VW's so I need a solid daily/tow vehicle for lugging my projects around.

I look forward to getting more involved with this community!

The other things- my '89 e30 325i and the '82 VW Rabbit Pickup Diesel
