Biodiesel Blend at pump?
Greetings to all the X5 owners,
As a semi introduction, I'm in Portland and just purchased a 2012 X5 35D from a private party with 38K miles on it. He bought it at auction 6 months ago in Houston. The maintenance records on it are a little sketchy and I have plans to take it in to the local BMW dealer to get all back up to snuff. I had a buddy a local indie import shop do a pre-purchase inspection and it needs new air, micro and fuel filters, but overall he thought it was solid. My primary (initial) question is regarding local pump Diesel fuel. On my first trip out to refuel I went to a local Shell station. The pump label reads #2 B5 S15 Biodiesel Blend. I need some edumacation on current Diesel fuels please. I'm in the nanny state of the Peoples Republic of Portland, Oregon and perhaps this is all that is available in the city (?) I haven't made it to other fueling stations yet. I intend to stick with Chevron, Shell or main stations. Given the vehicle questionable history, I was intending to put a bottle of something like BG 244 Diesel Fuel system cleaner, or similar fuel system additive on this first tank. If someone has another go-to product, please recommend it. For on going, regular refueling, should I consider any other supplement/additives (i.e. Cetane booster) given the pump fuel B5 S15 available? Thanks in advance Kenreau Last edited by kenreau; 12-11-2015 at 07:15 PM. |

Get your appropriate BMW owners manual and literature. BMW does not recommend any additives. BMW allows upto 5% biodiesel.
