Atlas Kwik Bay Lift
Looking at something to ease the suffering of staying on my back while working on the cars. Jacks and jack stands scare the crap out of me. The thought of having a 5000 lb hunk of steel on stilts over my head while i'm trying to break a bolt loose just doesn't sit well. Any thoughts or previous experience using one of these? Go to garagejournal.com. Register. Do a search. There are a million discussions on lifts. Make a post there, letting people know your slab thickness, height, and what you are looking for. Lots of people are installing lifts on that forum. Lots. Lots of very smart people to give advice as well.

Thoughts. Too many cautions in the promotional literature. It uses hydraulic cylinders. For hobby use, screw jacks would be simpler and more reliable. It won't save your back.
I have Rhino Ramps to remind me how much I hate being under a vehicle.

Ditto on garagejournal....
 You still need to get down with these low rise lifts, BUT- you can get on a rolling seat or rolling crawler...and there is much more room. AND its faster and no 'jack here then jack there'.

+1 on the 2 post. There are models where the equalizing cables cross the floor allowing for a lower ceiling height. I have had an Atlas 9000 lb for ten years- no issues with quality. With a 10' eave in my shop I can get under the X with a full height oil drain. A cooter seat is no problem.
