BMW Assist prior to 2014 will not be reactivated
I was just informed by BMW NA that all vehicles prior to 2014 will not have the option to renew their BMW Assist activation. Apparently, BMW has decided to terminate their 2G, 3G service. For those of you having issues with the SOS button in your vehicle.... this may be the reason why. |

I wonder if a class action lawyer will research the contracts/documentation around this for all buyers and squeeze BMW....
Personally I have always hated this feature, and resented the inability to buy a car without it already installed |

Interesting, particularly we are a one car family of two, Milady Wife is 76 years old, and I counted on BMW Assist to assist her with problems away from me and away from home.
I do note that our mobile LTE provider will not allow my BMW SIM to connect, but that foreign/roaming services do allow connection.

I have had confirmation of this from my Dealer. The network will be shutdown at the end of 2016. No more renewals being processed.
