Congrats. I also owned an e53 (4.4 though) for a while as a third vehicle before getting the e70 4.8. The e70 isn't as raw and fun to drive, but it's a great suv. I just ordered some Adams trim product after reading that other thread...

Congrats on the purchase! What's the mileage on the 4.8?

I thought I recognized that user name. I still have the M3 that one is a keeper. I traded the old X and my 330i for the 4.8i as we never used the 330i. My wife mainly drove the X or her Z4 so the 330i just sat, so it made more sense for her to have a newer nicer x5 than an old X5 and sedan.

Unfortunately my toys are all put away (salt and snow on the roads here)

Thanks, it has 101k on it. Our 02 had 170k on it and I feel like it had tons of life left. I read up on the horror stories of the 4.8i but nothing scared me enough not to trade up

Were you able to obtain maintenance history upon purchase? That will tell you what will likely need to be done. I would assume the basics were already replaced like waterpump...etc...

One of the bigger fixes is the coolant exchange pipe.
