My first BMW: New guy

Hey everybody. I'm brand new here, first post. I'm a car fanatic as you might pick up on but I've never owned a BMW. I'm an import guy and after I found this 2009 X5 4.8 for sale at a small lot in town who buys all their cars from the fair weather area of Southern Cal and ships them up here to the Seattle area, I hoped this would be a good one. I pulled the trigger despite some hesitation after hearing some of the issues from my buddy who is a BMW tech. Well it broke me right into BMW's when the CEL came on about 20 minutes after leaving the dealership haha! What luck. Turns out after some forum searching, chatting with my buddy and some troubleshooting in my garage, it was the vent valve on the drivers side valve cover, torn all kinds of bad! So I have that part and the associated vent hoses along with some all weather OEM floor mats on the way to me! It's a good thing I like tinkering with my cars.

Anyway onto the photos. I bought it all stock and about two weeks later, mods are as follows: Paint matched kidney grilles : Painted lower side grille inserts : WeissLicht LED halo bulbs : WeissLicht LED fog light bulbs : WeissLicht LED license plate lights : Smoked tint over clear part of the taillights.

Welcome. Looks like a nice find. Always a fan of the tasteful upgrades, good choices.

How many miles were on it when you picked it up?

Thanks fellas. It has 89k on it now. I plan on doing plugs a little earlier than 100k. I'm not aware of it needing any other major maintenance, at least not until something else breaks haha

Thanks! Man that's great to hear. Once I get past its little quirks and repair the crankcase vent valve, I hope to be able to enjoy driving it without worrying about the CEL popping on. I temp fixed it and I don't have the lean codes anymore but I'll be so happy to have it fixed right.
