Rear Wheel Hub - Stripped lug threads
Hi
I have 2 stripped lug threads in my rear driver side wheel hub; I have been trying to find a detailed procedure to remove and change the hub (I've been reading that fixing the threads is a no-go), with no luck (X5 3.0si e70). I'm trying to check if removing the half-shaft is required or if the hub can be replaced without having to remove/disengage the shaft. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks, Last edited by CLS70; 02-15-2016 at 10:27 PM. |

If they are stripped, re-threading may not work. However I would not hesitate to install time-serts (on 2 of them of course, not all). Good installation will last a very long time.

Might be easier to change the whole spindle withna used one. I think the bearings may be pressed on
