2012 X5 Diesel EGR/SCR/DPF delete, monitor concerns

Hello,

I have a 2012 X5 diesel with 77k, my buddy is going clean out the CBU since I believe this is causing MPG loss and it just seems like a good idea to do it at this time.

I am also debating a bunch of other stuff, one being the swirl flap delete, DPF/SCR/EGR delete as well. Once I delete the DPF/SCR/EGR I absolutely pinky promise I'm only going to use the car for off road/racing purposes. But for my own piece, I want to know if the DDE monitors will show as "ready". I also want to know if it will pass an OBD/visual inspection.

Thanks!

Doubt it.

You are in California. They inspect for the physical presence of the DPF and SCR Cat.

Coding to prevent CELs is different than reprogramming to set false readiness monitors.

At least that is my understanding....

hypothetically speaking if it where possible...no one would say it publicly and get the tuner in trouble.

I would suggest discreetly asking which ever tuner you decide to go with if it's something they can do.

Ive emailed a couple tuners that i wont mention asking not if it will pass, but whether or not the monitors will set for "dyno tuning purposes". Ive been careful to chose my words and wouldnt ask for a tune rec on a public forum.

Very unlikely that your mileage loss is CBU IMO
Check your coolant temp and Tire Pressure first, then have your dde scanned for soft or pending codes with Ista, in that same visit they can check for CBU via test function, though it requires at least your HFM and MAP are operating correctly and no air leaks.

If youre taking it all apart anyway, it is usually recommended to have in good running order before starting mods, at least have an idea what your ailments are.
