Low idle stalls out
1st post and self admitted noob, so please bear with me. I have a 2012 X5 35i. Bought it in November with 24k mi and put about 7k since. Drove it to a friend's house the other night stayed for a few hours and when I went to leave, it took a while for it to turn over, and when finally did it would only run at a very low idle (400 rpm). I had my foot on the gas to the floor, but got nothing and it would eventually stall out. Did that a few times then let it sit overnight. Next morning, same thing. Looked for fuel pump relay but could only find EKP module. Black soot is very noticeable on driver's side tail pipe. Fuel pump sounds like it's running. Have a feeling it's either the injectors or coils. Any insight would be extremely appreciated. Saved up for this ride for 3 years, have it 6 months and this happens! SES light on? Any code?
If it's just low idle, it's starvation of either gas or air. Not saying 100%, but 60~70% based on my experience. Check code first. If no code, measure fuel rail pressure. Just this on top of my head, sorry. GL
