Upgrading wife's X5
Can someone tell me all the options on this particular vehicle other than the obvious. Don't want a stripped down mechanical del like the current 08 one. I googled the vin but didn't see a list of options. Vin-# 5UXZV8C52BL417084 Thanks in advance |

There are several BMW vin decoders out there. Any of them will give you all options for that vehicle.

I personally like this website:
bimmer.work : VIN Decoder for BMW enter the last 7 digits, gives you pictures of interior/exterior and list of standard equipment and options. Looks like a really nice color combo!

Here is the problem with these vin decoders.... BMW configures a car for the USA as a - lets say for example- a 2011 X5 50i sport. That 'base model' 50i sport has, perhaps, 30 'options' or featuires when you look at the VIN- yet it was ordered in the USA without adding a single option. Then lets say they add a 'comfort access' (just an example) ...in 2011 that may include 4 'things' that show up in a vin decoder. Your comment- must include everything except M pack' means you cannot decode the listing that the vin decoder is spitting out.... So how DO you figure it out? not easy. Go back to late 2010 in the forum, find the BMWNA order guides; understand what goes into each package. THEN use the vin decoder. Oh, one more thing. Never, ever, ever use the term 'its loaded'. And if someone tells you this they have a hand on your wallet

This is exactly what I'm asking, seems like the vin decoder is showing more options than I'm seeing on the car

The way I've always done it is to find somewhere listing the possible options that were available to order... whether they were part of a package or individually optioned. Or doing investigative work and just looking up a bunch of VINs on the decoder to see what a heavily optioned vehicle looks like versus a base "sport," "luxury line," etc. Then compare that against what the VIN decoder spits out.
I've have yet to be surprised something was there, or wasn't there (aside from aftermarket add-ons) when going to look at or purchase the vehicle.

To me, when I was shopping for a used e70 X5, I found that there were virtually NO 100% fully loaded cars. I'm sure someone has one, but they are rare beasts. Certainly some had more options than others. So I looked at the available options, and decided which options were the most important. I would not even look at a car without fully optioned "Comfort" front seats with heat and AC. I also wanted sport package, dynamic drive, and the top of the line stereo and navigation. I also wanted No third row seat. Just those criteria made fining a match very tough. I ended up not getting 20" wheels or flares, (had to add them later), no heated steering wheel, no heated rear seats; no heads up display; no reclining rear seats; all items I could live without. I also found that the most optioned cars generally came with a third row seat; I did not want that; I wanted a spare and no runflats. Later cars came with runflats with or without the third row seats.
You could try browsing an owner's manual to learn more about various options as well; the manual contains all options no matter how a vehicle is equipped. Those are available for download on the BMW NA web site.
