X5 E70 repair manual or resource

I have a 2008 with 91K miles now and would like to have a manual to aid my repairs and make my work more efficient. I can't find my favorite, which is Bentley and they appear to have stopped publishing a paper manual for this car. What resources are people turning to? Who might make a decent repair manual for it?

I highly suggest installing Rheingold. It is better than a Bentley manual imo.

thanks for E70 manuals help

Hi guys,
Thanks for the responses. I will look into both. In regard to Rheingold, that leads me to tuning questions. Do you use the system to tune your BMW? Or just for service codes and repair?

Hunt around the Internet for a copy of ISTA. This is BMW's service and repair database. If a torque spec you need isn't in there, it doesn't exist.

I saw a statement on Amazon listing saying, "Rheingold replaced BMW ISTA-D soft." Can anyone tell me exactly what Rheingold or ISTA are exactly? I mean, is it something like a digital Bentley maintenance/repair manual, with diagrams and step by step on how to remove & replace, say, an alternator on my E70, etc.? Also, the listing says no VMware. What is VMware, and does that mean I don't need VMware, or that I will have to acquire VMware separately?

Rheingold is an electronic system with service procedures. I believe it is what the dealer shops use. It runs on a PC. VMware is virtualization software. You don't need it to run the system.

Still interested in knowing the difference between Reingold and ISTA. Where you obtain this software from?
