Dome Light removal

For those of you who have switched out the interior lights, how do you remove the housing for the front dome lights and the housing in the back on top of the rear doors. Any help would be much appreciated as I can't seem to take either the front or the back off.

The front, you pull down at the front. You have to pull pretty hard. It will snap out.
The rears are a PITA! It took a lot to get the rears out. I ended up pulling the entire assembly out, then pulling the light off of the metal bracket that it sits in.
I broke the covers off when doing so. A few tabs broke off, but there were enough left to snap them back on. Good luck.

Yes. Use a plastic pry tool, and work it down somewhat, so you can get your fingers under the front (windshield side), and pull it down. It felt like I was going to break it, but it popped out.

While changing the front dome lights in my 2010 X5 35D I dropped a LEG in light housing, tried opening whole thing by unscrewing the back cover, did not come off, is there a way to get the LED out. It just sis there and does nor seem to cause ny problems, still would like to get it out.
