surging idle

I have a 2012 X5 35i with an idle problem. Anytime vehicle is at speed, it runs great. When idling, or very slow parking lot / drive-thru speeds, I frequently have a surging idle problem. It eventually calms down and maintains a smooth idle... has never stalled. No codes through ISTA/D.

I've attached a screenshot of RPM while sitting in a drive thru lane.

Any tips on beginning to investigate?

Thank you

i would probably begin by checking maf and vacuum as well as all the intake pipework for leaks and/or bad contacts.
