I just did this on my car. If I am understanding you correctly and we are talking about the same bracket, it bolts onto the alternator itself. Here is a picture I took while I was doing my job. There are several prongs on the bracket that slot into and around the alternator to keep the bracket from moving. In my picture, the bracket is loose and coming off the alternator but it should give you an idea of where it goes and in what orientation.

That's the one. I don't think I installed mine right - will double check later today.
There's supposed to be a clip (#3 in the diagram) attached to the hole in the bracket which secures the power steering suction line. Is that clip visible in your picture? |

The hose holder is visible in the picture but it is turned sideways so you cannot see the "stud" that goes into the bracket hole. Let me know if this clears things up.

That's exactly the info I needed - thanks! I'm pretty sure I didn't install this right, and sometimes I can smell a faint burning rubber smell from the engine bay. The power steering suction hose might be rubbing against something if it's not properly secured.

Yep - I had installed it wrong. Fixed.
