New X5 Owner

Hey Guys I just got rid of my e46 m3 with 120k miles for a 2013 x5 xdrive35i black/black 50k miles on it and i have to say the X5 is amazing

Ive had a bunch of BMW's before but they are mostly 3 series and m3's so this is my first X5, and i love it its comfortable and practical for traveling. Some might say its a downgrade but i wanted something with warranty and something newer and an alot bigger.

Already i bought a few things like black grilles, upgraded interior lights.

One thing i was hoping people could help me out with is what mods are for this car? for all my other cars there are mods for days but i cant find to many for the x5. One thing i do want to do is put either an x5m front bumper and rear bumper and get an exhaust system and tune.

Also if anyone has any info on DIY for X5M front and rear bumper conversion that would be helpful.

Any help to mod my X5 would be appreciated. Thank You

If you want to fit x5 m front / rear bumpers you also have to get the X5 M or 'M sport' wheel arch extensions and side skirts (they are the same)

On my 2011 X5 40d I have installed the full BMW performance bodykit custom painted with silver alu details, aluminium window trim, X5 M aluminium roof rails, Eibach springs (-50mm front -35mm rear), H&R spacers (12mm front 20mm rear), thicker anti-roll bars (29mm front 24mm rear, solid not hollow like OEM), K-mac camber plates on order, 50i exhaust and bumper cut-outs, X5 M50d mirrors and painted plastics, F15 LED fog lights, X6 LCI titanium kidney grills, open bumper mesh grills in silver, BMW Individual wood steering wheel matched to bamboo trim, bamboo gear selector, LED interior lights, DPF delete & remap, aftermarket anti-theft system (X5 can very easily be stolen, I strongly recommend additional protection, already had one stolen on the past) llumar ceramic window tints on all windows (including windshield and pano roof)... a few other small things as well

Welcome!

Unlike other BMW models, the X seems to be one of the most lighly modded models. I mean it is a bloated SUV.

Search around, but there isnt a lot that is being done.

Also, an X5m front and rear bumper, plus arches, will be $4-5k with paint. Really???

Congrats on your new car!

Yeah, people don't really mod the X5 because the typical kind of people who buy them aren't after performance. Most of those folks bought M cars or 3/4 series (I know I have a 335d modded as my toy car). If we really come right to it, the x5 is a school bus. The people who buy the X5 are less interested in performance and more interested space, looking richer than their honda pilot cousins, and having that floating living room couch ride.

With that said, sure there are performance mods. The N55 engine has lots of tunes available, there aren't specific tunes for the X5, its a tune for the engine. Check out burger tuning for a piggy back (which you can remove come warranty time). You can probably get about 360 crank hp our of the engine with a tune. http://www.burgertuning.com/N55_Stage2_Jb4.html

I'd skip an exhaust as its not going to make any real performance difference, but it will change the noise levels if thats what your after. But why on a 2.5 ton luxury car?
