2012 A/C question

I recently purchased an X5 and am just now noticing an A/C issue with the warmer weather. With the A/C on and the automatic button engaged, there is hot air blowing at the drivers feet while somewhat cool air is coming out the drivers vents. With the auto button disengaged, there is no heat at the drivers feet, but both heat and cold is blowing out the drivers right vent and warm air is blowing out the drivers left vent. How can this be? Please help!

First thing I would check out is the vent settings in the Climate portion of iDrive.

What happens if you hit MAX A/C?

Its possible that you have a flap failing, but I'd check everything else out first.

i tried the max button once but it blew harder, but I don't recall whether it was blowing hot or cold or both. I also had the vent settings in the idrive set to the drivers and passengers vents on both sides. If it is a flap failing, is that something that should be handled by a BMW dealer or can I handle that?

Press the center of the temp control dial. Use iDrive controller to set vent temp to blue. Repeat fro passengers side.
