AWD Error 4x4 issue.
I don't know if that caused the issue, but just thought I would mention it. My X was running fine with no errors before the started died. I also got the X towed, so I don't know if that had anything to do with the error either. I used the plastic tool to place her in neutral while she was being lifting to the flatbed. I have tried to use ISTA, but I get a no host found error, I think there is a problem with the way the cable is setup. Haven't been able to figure out that issue. I was able to run INPA and pull error code "53FC KL Versorgungsspannung" and "54C6 Olverschleiss" Hoping someone can give me hand. The error warning is annoying on idrive, it blocks the time. Oh, one more thing I should add. When my starter failed, I was in the back fuse panel pulling fuses, maybe i misplaced a fuse or two? Can anybody check what fuses control those components which are giving me errors ? I've checked, but can't seem to find anything wrong? Thanks in advance. Really need to solve this problem soon.

"AWD Error 4x4 issue" on the dash doesn't necessarily mean your AWD isn't working. It could be as simple as a faulty sensor or something minor. Your AWD is likely still functioning.
Dropping the screwdriver on the alternator just completed the circuit which caused the spark. I would be surprised if that had anything to do with your AWD issue. But may be related to the other code?? I would be surprised if towing is related to either of these. Find your trunk fuse box diagram and spend a minute going one-by-one ensuring the fuses are the right amperage and in the right location. That will rule out a fuse mix-up. As far as the error codes... Code: 53FC- (21500)- KL30 Voltage supply https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...ht-dash-4.html & Code: 54C6 Oil wear transfer case - 54C6 oil wear how to reset - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums The oil wear code simply signals you need new fluid in your transfer case. This is the likely cause of your "AWD 4x4 warning". The "53FC voltage supply" you may have to do more research on to figure out.. I would replace your fluid and clear the codes. See if the Voltage code comes back. Hopefully this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, I will look into it. Today I got stuck in my alley, front wheels not spinning. It's like there no power to the transfer case.

Ah... well then... I haven't had to deal with this myself so I'm just making educated guesses. But your computer has likely shut off your transfer case and therefore your front wheels due to the oil wear issue. At least, hopefully that's what the issue is. You could call the stealership up and ask them about it. They may be able to shed some light on whether or not the car is designed to do that for damage prevention purposes.

If you clear the codes, do both of those come back? I would change the TC fluid and reset the TC adaption codes. Also, TC fuses are labeled with a gear in the fuse legend. There are 5 or so fuses related to the TC.

Do you know what fuses they are? Also read something about some fuses by the battery ?

I think this thread cursed me... I shit you not, Driving back to my office today from lunch and all of a sudden the car lurches as if the brakes were applied. My radio dies, and my speedo and tach gauges went to -0-. WHILE i'm driving... Then, DING! "4x4! AWD malfunction". Looks like its back in the shop for the X... this makes visit #4 in less than a year... I'm thinking that episode was my computer shutting my transfer case off. Hopefully I have the same issue as you with the transfer case fluid.
