Preventive check after cruising in high flooded water
There was a hurricane where I live yesterday and flood was like everywhere. I was on my way back home from the church and apparently the street was filled with 15-25" of of rain water. I got no choice to drive home through those and fortunately made it.
However, during my drive, there were moments when the CCC intermittently restarted and all kind lights showed up on my dashboard from transmission, abs or even brake lights. Key messages were electrical system errors which made me think water might have got to some of the electrical junction and caused temporary short. I leave the car dry for the next day and all those lights disappear.
As a precaution, I'd like to get my car checked out and replace if possible any thing prone to damage due to those short cruise in water since I wanna keep the car for another 5 years.
My ride is 2007 X5 3.0si with 60K miles on the clock. I already replace new engine oil and filter this morning and wonder if I should do the same for differential oil (Front and rear) as well as transmission oil which involved new transmission pan and gasket.
I also have noticed small oil leak at my oil pan and already ordered one at hand. But given the complication to get to the oil pan, what else should I look out for while I am at it to save on labour as preventive maintenance? As said, I wanna keep the car for another 5 years at least so just wanna give it some love and care now as she's more than 10 yrs old now.
Thanks
