N55 Dinan chip

Has anyone firsthand experience with the Dinan chip upgrade for the N55 engine?

The increases in horsepower and torque are impressive; https://www.dinancars.com/product/d9...5i-n55-engine/ But i would like to hear of any first hand experiences. I am fortunate as there is a Dinan shop within a few miles of my home.

BMW N55 Twin Turbo Performance Upgrades - BurgerTuning.com

These guys do much better work for much less. It'll work on your E70, but I'd email them just to make sure and to get the right install instructions.

The price almost half but I'm wondering whats "much better"? This is an add on part that is not under warranty and "for competition only". The Dinan upgrade is burned into the factory chip and BMW warranted. Also the Dinan improvements are twice as good as the Burger and emission approved. This is my concern about adding an aftermarket improvement and wanted some real world testimonials.

Dinan is crap fwiw.

Can't you use MHD now to tune? It is hands down the best option.

Not sure what you were looking at, but their JB4 offers a lot more in gains than the Dinan. Further, the Dinan is just a tune 'burned in' as you say. You could also flash with MHD (like mentioned above) and accomplish much more than the Dinan for a whole lot less money. An MHD tune is like $80 with huge support. The cable and the android tablet are more than the access to the tunes.

JB4 is a step above a tune and Burger spends all of their time tuning BMWs. They have the fastest BMWs on the planet and Terry (head guy) lives BMW. Excellent support.

Dinan is NOT BMW. They have a deal worked out with them, and have had it for a long time, to be the authorized supplier of performance stuff. As far as the warranty...remove anything before you take it to the dealer if you add a piggyback like a JB4. If you just flash (correct term, not burn in) your DME then flash back to stock before service. Takes 3 minutes. Google N55 tuning MHD and you'll find a lot of great stuff. This forum is not tuning focused like others are. From a warranty perspective, it depends what breaks. If you radio quits or your fuel pump quits or a sensor goes out is has nothing to do with the modification. The legal precedent states that the MFG has to prove the modification caused the failure. Now, if you run a bad tune or push things too hard and smoke your turbo...that's different.

FWIW I have a fully ABR built 335i that's putting down 692WHP which is both Burger and MHD tuned. Dinan is high $$ for guys who don't know better.
