Starter/ Battery
Few questions about my 2007 3.0 with 107k miles. Will a bad (old) battery cause the starter to go? Is there a way to check how old my battery is? Not sure if the previous owner changed it a few years ago. I looked at the battery and it looked very clean and new (maybe because it is covered under all that plastic covers?). I'm asking because my car suddenly wouldn't start after going to Stop and Shop...no crank or anything. I had it towed to an indy and they said it's the starter. Besides the intake manifold gaskets, is there anything else that needs to be changed while they're replacing the starter? The shop also said it's a 3 hr job. Does this sound correct? I know I read a thread somewhere and the guy said it took him about an hr just to remove the starter... Thanks! |

Did you unlock your cluster and do TEST 9 to see what the battery voltage was? If this is unfamiliar to you...I've seen videos on youtube that show how to unlock the new style clusters in the e70 to access the cluster's tests that can reveal the battery's voltage.

Got the car back. They replaced the starter and it cranks good as new.
Thanks! |
