e70 Black Kidney Grill

Hi...I recently purchased an e70 35d m sport.

First on my list of tasteful mods is to change the front grill to black (with my x5 being carbon black)

Having a look online there seems to be two styles of grill out there - I have added a link below since i can't get the pics to upload.

I am undecided on which style to go with but I am being swayed by the grill with the lip. Also, given my car is Carbon black would a matt or gloss grill work better?

1. Like for like replacement in black, same style - im sure you all know what this looks like.

2. Grill with what I can only describe as a lip on the top

Personally...the grill with the "lip" looks like it copies the e90 3 series...so if you like the look of the e90 3 series kidney grills over the look of the e70 kidney grill...then you've found your grill:

thanks for the fast reply and thanks for posting up the pictures. i don't see many x5s with the lip grill hence why i thought i would ask the community in here. i think i am going more towards replacing the grill with a like for like style, it just seems to have more aggressive look.

The e70 kidney grills didn't have the "lip"...they came in either Schwarz (black) or Titan 2 (see #1 in diagram below):

I've just gone ahead and ordered a set of black gloss grills. I am looking to dechrome the window trim next. Will most likely go for a wrap in satin black.

I will hopefully take some before and after pics and post them in here.

@JAXX5 - are those 336M alloy wheels on your car?
