Just bought a 2009 X5 3.0i. Thank you Xoutpost family.
Fluids done. Future DIY’s. Front brakes and cooling system. Future buys non RFTs and space saver spare. Any front brake kits you recommend? Anybody else use Cooper Discoverer HT as replacements for RFTs? Last edited by Brickhouse; 02-18-2018 at 08:53 PM. |

Welcome. the 3.0l is a good strong motor that'll provide you with years of service.
Youd be better off with Conti's, Bridgestone's or Michelins.....even Pirelli. When you cheap out on the main thing that keeps you planted to the road, it will we a recipe for disaster. Cooper tires are a cheap tire. It makes me nuts when I see an expensive car with cheap tires on it.

Thanks
Just what I was thinking. My tire shop recommended the Cooper's. I have a couple months left on the RFTs so I will keep an eye out on a variety of high performance all seasons. |

Cooper tires ROCK. I wouldn't take ANY tire over the CS5's I have on my E53 and other vehicles that are awd. Snow, ice, mud and 40,000 to 50,000 mile lifespan with awd is very hard to beat.
I have CS5 grand touring on some and CS5 Ultra touring on the E53. I wish I could get them in a runflat for my e70 but no luck. I will be going with the Pirelli's probably for runflats. But for non runflats on an awd vehicle I flat love the cooper tires.

Another one that I like if its a summer only tire is Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Not so much when the terrain gets bad though.
Ice and mud is not the dws's strong point.

You will love the 3.0! Congrats on the purchase! Tires? I have the Yokohama G055 on mine. Great tires for me.

Took a chance on a Falken Ziex ze950's after my only experience with them was in a friends Allroad. 116.00 each after several discounts. Pepboys. First impression is a smooth tire well designed. Handles on dry roads and way better than my duelers mud/snow/rain season we call spring here Maine. We shall see how they wear. Much quieter than I thought they would be.
