Need info on how to remove SCR tanks.
I'm trying to find info about the steps required to remove both the active and passive SCR tanks on my 2001 X5 35d. Seems I found such a write up once but now can't seem to. I'm going to pull mine out and use the XeMODex repair kit for active and maybe send my passive to them for repair.
Thanks Tom |

Trackbum: Just to make it clear, the reason ard talked about 120K miles is because BMW has extended the warranty on the active tank to 120K. Also, I thought that the wachuko repair with VW parts was much less expensive than the Xemodex repair. It's your car, but why would you want to go the Xemodex route?

Buy the part for the active tank. As far as I know, there is no fix yet for the passive tank level sensor, unless you ant to do something like the plixfix resistor mod

Neither of my now-removed (due to deletion) tanks gave issues. They now sit emptied in my garage. 125k miles when removed.
I can ship you one or both for cost of shipping plus a tip for hassle. |

Not trying to be picky, but see model year 2001; must be a typo, correct?
Like others mentioned, check your milage against the SIB up to 120,000 miles. I went this route on mine and had zero issues at the dealership |
