Valve stem seal

I recently purchased a 2010 E70 48i (my second) 100k miles. Over all really good condition. Needless to say I’m sitting in traffic and someone pulls alongside
Me to tell me I’m smoking while stuck in traffic. I thought I’d get and it would be ccv diaphragms. One was clearly bad but the other seemed ok. I replaced them both and the problem wasn’t as bad, but it was clear at that point it was time to inquire about having the valve stem seals replaced. A local garage I take the wife’s Honda for service wanted $7700 to do the job. I really like the x5 but at what point will BMW get it right? Or at what point will I buy something else?
( never) I got in touch with Mike DeVito from New Jersey. A BMW Master mechanic who was able to do the valve stem seals, vacuum pump seal, valve cover gaskets, upper timing cover gaskets, along with a few things he noticed for
$2500!! I drove it back to Maryland and it ran like a top.

Completely satisfied, Mike’s a great guy and really seems to know what he’s doing. So I’m just passing on a positive experience in case anyone else needs
This job done. He gave me his permission to give his contact info.
[email protected]. You may find him on M5board.com as well.

Thanks and Happy Wednesday

I know Mike from M5Board.

hmmm...I thought there was only one PCV valve. Located on right side of engine with tubing interconnecting the left to the right side. Did the design change over the years?

If you're talking about the CCV, there are two.

Yes, CCV, PCV same thing in my book. My '08 4.8i only seems to have one...yes, I looked on both sides. Even purchased two anticipating to find two.

Oh well.

Yes, the design did change (see the attached SIB) from 2 to 1 CCV valve(s).
Assumed I had 2 (bought 2) but only needed the 1...

Thanks,
John

So looking at realoem it still shows a PCV/CCV on each valve cover. However looking at my car I have the newer vent pipe with a PCV/CCV on the passenger side. So that means there's no longer a PCV/CCV on the driver's side? I am about to do the work so was going to tear in looking for the driver's side vent.

That's the one I replaced. By other one are you saying there's two?
