Depending on the severity of the seal degradation, additives can work. They did for me. It’s not a permanent fix, but so far so good after a year. $3,500 is hard to justify for such a low value vehicle like a 4.8 E70. Rather just sell it.

So I bought this ATP thing. Do I put it in the gasoline tank or where I put the OIL?

You need to add in to your engine oil and not in your gas tank.

If your problem is valve stem seals, at 205 will help mask the problem. It is certainly not a fix. I use it, along with slightly heavier oil as I put off the vss job. It does help.

Other causes of smoking at idle, turn ccv diaphragm, and vacuum leaks.

Good luck, vss is not a cheap job. Or easy if diy'ing. I keep putting mine off.

Sorry I ended up trading my car, after a Local shop told me it was going to cost me 5000.00 to fix it. Also My AC was acting up, and BMW Dealer quoted me $3500 to diagnose and repair. I figure I would cut my losses short.
