A search on the forum did not generate a DIY. |

Similar N52 engine is used in 3 & 5 series. Should be easier to find DIY for one of them.

Well, have not received DIY related info so I started on my own and here are the steps I have taken:
(1) Remove the air filter components and its bottom mounting bracket as well as the engine cover. So the top looks like this: Last edited by xchen; 11-11-2018 at 06:09 PM. |

(2) Place a cut-cake tin foil under the pressure release valve, unscrew the cap and use a screw driver to press the inner pin to release internal pressure (some gas fluid would come out):

(3) Put the cap back on and move the tin foil cup to under the fuel connector that has the GREEN plastic dis-connector pusher. Push the GREEN plastic dis-connector and pull the fuel supply line out. A lot of fuel would come out.

(4) Make sure that battery is disconnected. You can do this before disconnecting the fuel supply line. Then secure the supply line away from the injectors with a wire.

(5) Use and flat screw driver to release the clip on the injector's electric connector and disconnect the wire port. I used the flat screw driver tip to push one end slightly outward and, at the same time, tilt the port a little towards the same side, hold the port; then do the same with the other end of the clip; the port should come out easily.

(6) With all 6 connectors disconnected, use a 10mm socket to loose the 4 bolts that hold down the injection fuel distribution bar (see #2 photo in Step 1). Then hand pull the bar outwards; do not bend or wiggle; hand pull with patience. You are looking at this with the injectors out:

(7) Handle the injection bar with care as some fuel would come out. Each injector is secured to the distribution bar with a stainless steel clip; use a flat tip screw driver to release the clip; small turn and pull the injector out. Mine was very tight; just apply small force to turn the injector slightly and pull at the same time. While doing this a lot of fuel would come out of the hole as air gets inside of the bar. So be prepared to catch the fuel.
When inserting a new injector, do the same small-turn and push until the clip grove is about 1 mm above the seat. Then insert the clip to secure the injector. You should hear 2 metal clip sound, which are produced by the 2 clip side tabs securely seated with the 2 notches on the injector seat. To understand this, before inserting the injector, look over the housing seat that has 2 outward tab/notch. Put back everything in the reverse order, then you are done. Hope this helps. |
