Car reached 100k

Hi question. I am debating if I should sell my car or fix the control arm and any other issue that will appear at 100k. What do you think I should do? Should I expect a lot of other issues? I think someone told me the gasket seal should be replaced soon. And I am seeing white smoke.

Lets play this game....

What do YOU think you would get if you sold it? $6k?

I mean if you want to add $60,000 to than and get a new car, sounds like a good plan.

You're facing $4-5-6k in repairs, just a wag.....

food for thought.

What's the history of the car? There's multiple "known/common problems" threads/articles. Seems issues pop up in the 70-80k range, so hopefully they've been addressed by now and you could maybe have another 40+k of "trouble free" miles. Or they haven't and they could cause multiple issues in the very near future. But a buyer who's doing their due diligence would know that and it would factor into the price.

Thanks, I guess you are right. But this is what I got so far, Control Arm, Sway Links, needs replacement thats $1500. Someone told me from the White smoke it looks like I need Valve Stem Gasket replace, I checked thats at Lowest $5000 at an Indy Shop. I just didnt want to spend that money and still keep spending money on other repairs.

Only issue I think I have right now is the Smoke coming out, someone told me its the Valve Stem leaking, and Control Arm and Sway bar needs replacement.

I am hoping this is all, I don't want to keep putting money in, if other stuff is going to be breaking. Someone offer me $9000 but i didnt have the title, since i am still paying for car and BMW Dealer offered me $7000.

This is so confusing.

So you don't have any repair history? During the valve stem seal replacement you should get the timing covers and valve cover gaskets replaced (and a bunch of O-rings and such).

Oil cooler t-stat gasket is another biggie.

You're lower mileage than me but I recently had to do a coolant system refresh. Coolant transfer pipe is another possible repair coming up.

Rear air bags (if you have them) tend to last 8-10 years.

Frankly the list could be endless. The important part in determining what you might need to DO, is what has been DONE.

Exactly what I was afraid of.

I had extended warranty up on 90k miles, I would take it in whenever it needed work, I dont think they did any of that.

so what am i looking at in repairs for this now? Is there any good 3rd party warranty. Have you heard of Carshield.com? Are they good?
