Adaptive Headlights

I have a 2013 X3.5. From time to time I get an amber adaptive headlight error. The headlights work, only the fogs do not turn on when the wheel is turned. When to turn the car off and restart the error goes away.

Any thoughts on the cause and cure?

I've had this warning several times throughout my ownership and it's a problem with/in my left headlamp according to the diagnostic system. I'd have to look at my record notes, but I don't think it's been an issue since I replaced the battery, interestingly.

Again, from memory and without the benefit of my record in front of me, it doesn't seem to be related to temperature or length of operation. Sometimes it comes in just after they come on, other times after some time. It is related to turning the steering wheel. I think when the motors do not respond properly to the input, the warning is issued.

As my battery was nearing end of life, there was also a problem reported with the driver's (left hand) mirror, lost communication or something.
