Anyone here tried the add-on soft close door product?

It’s a cool feature but I’ve never missed or wanted it. But starting this year I’m dropping my daugher off for kindergarten and her getting the door closed in the drop off lane isn’t perfect. I’ve seen guys on FB that have added some aftermarket mechanism that does it. Curious of any feedback if anyone here has done it and if so how involved it is. I’m assuming (perhaps wrongly so) that the add-on option is easier than retrofitting factory version.

Why you did not buy a car with almost full options I have seen aftermarket installation but only on front doors
For all doors factory's mechanism costs about 400€. 4×100

Ha. Had I bought it new I don’t know that I would have recognized the value to order at the time! My biggest question (which I have recently directed to the manufacturer of the AM product) is how is it powered? I have no problem pulling the door panel to install a lock mechanism (assuming that’s what it takes), but I don’t much want to hack up the wiring in the door and I definitely don’t care to tackle a project that requires running extra power into the door. Just too much trouble. One of the AM options is apparently $350/pair.

Thanks for that, but it’s a physical size thing not comprehension.

Anyway from what I’ve read most cars in the US aren’t wired and require full run back to fuse box.
