When you raise the vehicle the ride height sensors at the rear axle sense a change in "ride height", and trigger the compressor. I've never found this to be much of a problem, but if you want to avoid it either pull the fuse or disconnect the plug at the compressor. |

How often do you jack up the front? 3 or 4 times a day?!?
Once every few months will not damage the system. Even 2,3,4 times over the course of a weekend, once every few months is fine. |

Interesting. I have the opposite effect, but it’s on a lift not a jack so maybe the tilting has some impact. When I put it on the lift and lower it back down the rear sits low. It doesn’t ever leak otherwise so I don’t worry about it. I figure the ride height sensors detect a ‘high’ condition with the wheels dangling and deflate.

Same thing happens to me. When I raise the front the compressor usually comes on. When I raise the rear and lower it back down, vehicle sits low at back until next drive. It seems the system only inflates or deflates when the vehicle is "awake". I've found that even opening a door can wake it up and make the compressor turn on. Anyone know the criteria used for awake and asleep? |

Awake and asleep are one of the most annoying issues about these cars. Why turn on all the modules when I just opened a door to grab something? And then there's a stupid timeout period even after you lock and arm the alarm. Annoying as fk

Because imagine hopping in the car, hitting engine start, and nothing happens because not everything has woken up yet. Maybe someday cars will be smart enough to know if you're opening the door to drive somewhere vs just to grab something, but alas, today is not that day.

{this is the old gen BMW Wake-up & Sleep criteria...again the e70 has even more features and more online technology and different bus system and modules...but the criteria is similar}

The text below is an extract from the online TIS...if you want to see all of the info...click this link: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ystems/1odeF1T The EHC control unit recognises the different operating conditions from the incoming signals and messages. Depending on operating conditions, appropriately adapted control functions are activated.
