Keyfobs battery failing weak

I have a 2007 X5 ... one of the key fobs no longer charges so it is only good as a physical key (one can pull that out). The other key fob I think isn't far behind as it results in the X5 reporting it needs recharging about everytime I use it. So what is wrong? Bad built in battery? Soldier in a new battery? what is the likely fix?

Ah use a thin knife pry off battery door replace Cr2032 .... let us see. Guess the e70 remote actually has a battery one can replace hooray!

Mine unfortunately is not replaceable, being an E53. What I do to avoid them failing on me is swap keys about every 3 months to avoid one sitting for and extended time and ruining the charging cell.

Not sure if the E70 is the same, but you may try taking the weaker key for an extended drive or leave it in the ignition in position 1 with a battery charger on the car. (I’ve read that you can also set them on a wireless rapid charger for your phone and leave them overnight- never done it myself or seen it work, but rumor has... dunno)

Either way, good luck

I know that an Oral-B charger works for my E39 key. I too swap keys every few months or so to keep each topped up.
