Mine is an E53 so totally different dash.. but if you check RealOEM.com you can probably find and exploded view of your dash and get a pretty good idea of where the nuts and bolts are to get it apart.

Awesome resource, and yes I found the same degraded foam under both strut mounts, just trying to figure out if I should just replace the strut cartridges at the same time. I have been pretty dissappointed in the suspension on this thing, I've already replaced both bags, the compressor, a splitter and some of the tubing..
You guys are awesome thanks so much. |

Did you do the passenger airbag recall? They remove the dash to get to it and have been known to not put it together well at tonnes.

We just had our recalls done but there is definitely no 'foam' left under the struts so pretty sure for us that's the deal.

For us it's just movement. I found the strut mount bushing to be completely destroyed and like powder so that seems to be the culprit, since the strut mounts are now metal to metal somewhere it just resonates through the car. It's insane and now I have a path to repair.
