Sticky Door Handle Replacement DIY Video

Made a quick video showing how to replace a sticky door handle pull on the passenger side of your X5.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Y3Jt_IGaM

Figured some of you are encountering this and would find this helpful.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Sticky door handle pulls have been a problem for me with at least four past BMWs and with the current X6. I opted for trying leather covers a UK seller is offering on eBay and couldn't be happier with the fit. Easy to put on (velcro), cheap, and most of all, looks great. Problem solved! Highly recommended. Look for j-r-customs on eBay and you'll see a bunch of covers for different models (including X). I paid about $40 with shipping. I had lots of questions and they took the time to answer them all (on a Saturday, mind you).

Thumbs up Satisfied

I replaced mine in about 15 minutes, going slowly and being careful not to mar the outer leather part of the handle.

I didn't know whether the chinese knockoff parts (about $20 on ebay) would be satisfactory, so I bought an OEM one for about $50.

Very happy with the results.

Funny story: I was surprised Monday when my Uber turned out to be an X5 E70. Sure enough, the door handle was sticky. The driver was grateful to learn how easy and cheap it is to fix it.

Hello, good video, well done, the alternative to replacing the interior door handles in bmw x5 E70 and X6 E71 is to wrap them with high-quality leather, this way you can save money and time as it is way easier to wrap them with leather rather than replace them. I once used these covers from here BMW X5 E70 Interior Door Handle Leather Covers
Easy installation shown in this video:

This is how it looks like:

Hope that helps someone.
