Sounds like it's binding on one side. Could try lubricating the slides to see if it helps. Hard to determine much more than that without seeing it. Something could be jammed in the track. Something could be broken.

I think everybody reads this and thinks "yeah, broken sunroof...poor guy, that's gonna hurt"
The sunroofs are notorious failure points. Something cracks, and you are facing a massive project..drop the headliner, find the issue, scrounge for used parts or buy a new assembly$$$$. At least that's my impression. I haven't opened mine in a few years, except for an annual drain check. |

Hi thank you for your answers.. I tried to open again yesterday, but I couldnt again But I recognized that when I push the button for opening, then Immediatelly Im hearing a noise like a ''taaakkkk''from right front side of the sunroof. Left side (upper driver side) is opening 1-1,5 cm but right side never. Im feeling that there is something wrong over there which is keep the glass. I tried to look but there is so narrow and I couldnt understand whats happening over there while trying to open glass..
Still two parts of glasses can open normally with an angle. But after tried to open the sunroof, I can not close it properly. I am giving little force to front side of the glass to upper side, then itcan close normally. I really tried to tell the all story , what can I do friends... |

Replace the entire sunroof cartridge or disassemble the sunroof, identify the broken parts, try and track the broken part's down and then replace them. Or just tale it to the dealer.
There's no silver bullet and any number of parts could be broken. Hard to diagnose the real issue over the internet and identify the broken parts without looking at it. You can look at the sunroof and find the broken parts, however.

1. If you can close it, CLOSE IT.
2. DO NOT mess with it until one of two things: You have all the parts and skills to do it...OR.. you have a ton of money to pay the dealer to fix it. This is not some easy 'oh just do XYZ' fix. Parts are broken. |

Ard, yes you are right, but just Im trying to get some recommendations from other owners who had this problem before. Yes dealer is always very expensive then if there is any possibility to fix it, then I will try. otherwise I can recognize that the broken part or problem, then I can order it myself.
So, this noise means that some part is broken inside of the sunroof right? it is so difficult to see the inside of the mechanismfrom inside of the car. |

Can *you* drop the headliner and remove the sunroof cassette?
If you can, then you can probably fix it. But this is not a 'there's a YouTube video, order a $20 part from BMW and slip it in and do a reset' fix. IMO Doesn't NEED to be a dealer. Shops can do it. Just hard to find a quality shop. That and the instinct to shop for the cheapest price can lead to sorrow.... . |
