Replacing/coding the parking brake actuator

Hi all,
Have read through many threads on the topic over the last year (almost) since the first time my actuator locked up at a Wawa. The first time i removed, disassembled & reassembled the module & got it working, but also ordered a knockoff from eBay for $200ish since the motor was drawing way too much & clearly failing.

Now I'm ready to swap out after a month of alert/warning light & confused if/how to code the new module? I have a Schwabben/510 which has the capability, but haven't found/seen what exactly to enter?

Thanks in advance!
Chris

Well, didn't have to enter any numbers or "code" VIN as expected, but the Schwabben/510 had a service mode for EMF and I was able to activate it OK just poking around. No more errors, and good as new. Anyone's guess how long the knock-off eBay unit will last, but for now it's one less light on the dash.

Had a similar issue untill i hope today. Got around to actually tinkering with it with rheingold and ista hoping coding the vin would work to no avail, cleared it a few times then a screen i hadnt checked into under the emf was to put the car in workshop mode boom gone in my disbelief hoping this isnt temporary and light is off for good

And it remained off until backing out of my driveway. Oh so close...

Just an FYI for those of you who are searching this failure (not trying to hijack thread) but this being the newest thread about the issue.

I had this failure yesterday but it failed in the open position (not locked up) and all it took was clearing the codes to get rid of the light and also allow the brake to function as normal again. I don't know if this means that my actuator is failing but not totally gone or just some fluke but I wanted to put it out there to those who are searching for possible remedies to the situation.

Bummer...the Chinesium eBay actuator only lasted a month...ECU can't even talk to it. Is there an affordable option? Would rather have the type with motor on calipers - what years are those found on & can I upgrade to that?

Just following up on these china units? My force sensor is the suspect as the cable was screwed all the way in from the motor.
