LED bar light wiring

I am looking to fit a 20 inch, single row LED bar light behind the grill under the bonnet. I am trying to wire the light in with the high beam so that I do not have to switch the light on and off separately, I would like it to activate with the high beam activation. As these vehicles have the canbus system, I am concerned that it will not just be a straight wiring into the harness and use a relay to provide power directly from the battery.

I have a 2008 X5 E70 3.0 turbo diesel.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, I am located in Australia, so I don't know it that makes any difference to the wiring of the car.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. I live in the country and drive at night and early morning. The standard halogen lights are ok but I would like more so I can see skip before he jumps. Trying to work out a way to incorporate it into the wiring and make it legal so the bar light goes off when I dip to low beam.

I drive heavy vehicles I killed seven just the other night. But a little more light on the road may help. It’s why I upgraded the lights on my R1200 GS Adventure.

LED bar light wiring

There is a Facebook E70 group that has members from parts of the world that are dark most of the time. I think one was from Nova Scotia. I say this because that may get you several people that have made the mod you are looking for. I saw one on there with a light bar like that the other day.

You are looking for pin #6-WS/GN (high beam) or pin #6-WS/BL (high beam) to connect to the relay coil.
