X5 E70 Boot/Trunk latch/lock water leak

Hey guys, my dad has a 2011 X5 30D XDrive E70. A few months ago he fell victim to a poorly designed multistory car park wall and ended up denting the lower boot/trunk door (the one that opens down). He had it repaired and painted. Ever since then, after its rained, whenever he opens the upper boot/trunk door, it leaks water out from the little latch/lock that slots into the lock in the lower trunk/boot door. I will try to get some photos if that will help make things clearer. Its driving him a bit mad as it pours a fair bit of water down on top of him when he opens the boot/trunk.
