Headliner swap (w/ pano roof) Anyone have any experience!??!?

Anyone done the swap to the black headliner? How much of a pain in the butt is it with a the pano roof?? I've done this before but on other BMW's. Never on an e70 X5.

I know you also need all the consoles, pillars, trims, pano roof cover, etc. I found someone dumping it all for $600 CAN that fits my X5 with pano roof. Not sure if that price is good/bad either. But haven't found a setup like this for sale anywhere yet. And I would love to have the black in mine.

It's time consuming but not difficult. Doing the same on my E61 wagon at the moment but am upholstering the headliner/pillars/sunshades in faux suede. Had everything pulled in around 4 hours taking my time. It's fiddly work, but again, not difficult.

$600CAN seems pretty good for the whole setup, but that depends on your personal situ. I'd ask him if he'll take a little less but be prepared to pay full pop if you really want it. Remember you will need the vanity lights, vanity mirrors, hooks, etc in black as well.

This past summer I re-did the entire upper have of my 2000 BMW e38 in black alcantara. Was not an easy job, especially at the front where the sun visors are and on the sides the grab handles are. Alcantara doesn't stretch easily. The idea of the material not having to be swapped is awesome. I'd rather very much take out the old and install the black headliner and trim WITHOUT having to recover everything like I did in the 7-series.

I whole-heartedly agree. Suede sucks to work with. Much better to do a swap if possible.
