Sunroof Drain Pipe Twisted In Footwell??
Hi All,
I am experiencing the notorious sunroof leak in the front passenger foot well from the sunroof drain pipe being kinked/twisted from the factory as I have discovered in my research. After a ton of searching, I do not see a permanent way to fix this.
I disassembled my kick plate and trim in the passenger foot well and have observed the drain tube is corkscrewed and somewhat kinked as the rubber is accordion like and soft. I reached in with a pair of needle nose pliers and turned the rubber pipe where it goes through the metal to behind the fender to exit in order to try to straighten out the pipe. This helped the water flow a bit better for the short term but now has likely returned to the original kinked position as the carpet is damp again.
It almost seems like the drain hose is too long as it comes down from the roof, it has to have a loop before it exits the vehicle. Has anyone else ever experienced this issue and if so, what was the permanent fix? Can I pull this rubber hose out of the metal (seems like a grommet on the end of the hose), reposition and press it back into the metal or is there a fitting on the other side of the metal I risk damaging by pulling the hose back into the vehicle to reposition?
TIA
