I was guessing that was what 'coded' meant. It isnt a common term for us yanks.
IMO- and its just my opinion- I think it is a negative. (Hence my joking comment about also painting wheels, tires, glass.)
I think it incrfeases the visual 'mass' of the car, and make it a big hulking blob of grey. (or whatever color) The use of black trim allows the designers to reduce visual mass, contour how you the the colors, etc. Like a house all one color without any painted trim. Or a home with landscaping consisting of 'everything grass' instead of swooping planting beds of bushes, etc.
Just my 2 cents. You should google then image search- prolly find a dozen.
