A1 E9 - FKA: Electric auxiliary heater, right

Okay, Last one for now..

Not having much luck finding anything on this as well. Again, I seem to remember hearing that the e70 has an electric aux heater to provide heat until the engine warms up. I'm guessing from the message it has one for each 'zone' (driver/passenger - left/right as it is reported).

Anyone run across this, and have any thoughts on where to start?

Here's some info about the rear FKA (rear heating/AC). Click the link for more info than what's in the pic below...which is just the start of the info at the link given.

Also, don't confuse/conflate the independent fuel powered heater that is an option for markets in Europe...especially countries near or in the Arctic Circle. This independent auxiliary heating system can be used to warm the vehicle prior to entry. The first link below to the independent heating diagram...I used a diesel powered X5...so the heater uses diesel fuel, too:

Hello Q,

Thank you for the Link! I spent quite a bit of time online last night searching, and came across a link to this site (newtis.info) in another post, and was eventually able to drill down to this same information. Some really great info on this site.

I much appreciate the link though

Now I need to find this, and see if I can figure out what it is or isn't doing.. LOL!

Electric auxiliary heater

The electrical auxiliary heater based on the PTC principle (resistor with positive temperature coefficient) is fitted in the air duct. The electrical auxiliary heater directly heats up the air to adjust the temperature of the vehicle interior. Electrical auxiliary heaters are fitted on the right and left. The heating elements in the electrical auxiliary heater are cold conductors. These heating elements consist of individual ceramic semiconductor resistors.

Index Explanation Index Explanation
1 Plug-in connection 2 Heating elements of the electrical auxiliary heater
3 Footwell temperature sensor

I recall the EU aux heater is an actual diesel fired heater, that can keep the car warm with motor off for extended periods. I heard it was a sought after option for police undercover cars...
