08' E70 Signal light issues
I recently bought yet another E70. This one has signal/lighting issues.. The signal lights work left and right (all bulbs incl fender mounts)but flash quickly like if it had a bulb out. I ran codes and get Direction indicator front right faulty Direction indicator rear left faulty Brake light left faulty Rear adaptive brake light faulty left Daytime running light left faulty Backup lights faulty Aside from the RF signal fault it appears the left rear tail light has issues. I have checked bulbs and they are good and correct Osram bulbs. Do the tail light housings go faulty? Bad ground? (where is ground??) Or do I have a software issue? Thank you for any direction.

In my case there was corrosion around the bulb socket contact points due to water infiltration from both a lift gate wiring grommet and from the tail light lens gaskets themselves. The leak was so bad that some control modules were partially submerged in water behind the left access panel. Fortunately they dried out and appear to be working. I had to clean the connector contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Check for corrosion and signs of water infiltration, perform a soak test, and fix any issues first. |

Does the FRM (foot rest module) have a role in controlling those lights on your model??
It has been recalled, has been implicated in many odd issues.... Www.newtis.info GL |

Thanks for the info guys!! The inner lights are warped and show signs of water in the housings so I have those coming. The outer lights show no signs of leak or corrosion. But that said thinking I will pull the Left light and take a closer look. Due to the amount of lighting codes I have a feeling it could be something like a FRM fault. I will report back with results. Thank you!

So I pulled the rear tail lights and gave them a close look. Unfortunately found nothing. They looked perfect with no corrosion. I removed all bulbs (Osram) cleaned contacts anyway. At this point Im thinking ard may have something with the FRM as it appears to control those functions in the E70 and lots of other BMW's. I ordered the inner tail lights as the originals were warped and taking on water when washing the X then looking into repair options.

Look for the one singular fault that can cause the constellation of symptoms.

I agree. My best guess would be a bad ground. I could be wrong, but I don't think this is a bad FRM; I believe the lights themselves usually misbehave when the FRM bricks.

I hope its not the FRM but if it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all.. As I had a front right turn signal fault along with all the other blessings I swapped the signal bulbs left to right and no joy..
