Both ways work. I've usually removed that vacuum connector from vacuum pump. Remove the screw and pull out. It has o ring as a seal. Do you have EGR still functioning normally or is it coded out?

EGR is still operational. What do I need to code it out and what are the benefits? I have a Foxwell NT650 if that's any good for modifying the setup...

Blocking out EGR would mean remapping engine ECU. Main benefit no more soot pushed in the intake manifold and slightly more responsive turbo.
