What do you guys see on your OBD2 while driving?
I was concerned about Water Temp as it is a good indicator of what's going on... Also looked at Manifold Pressure and Air intake Temp. This what I saw: 1) Water temp is around the 90°C mark. Max it reached was 108°C when it decided to charge up a hill. This was the only time it went over 100°C. 2) Manifold Pressure seemed to max out at 2.55 bar. I'm sure it was higher than that because 255 sounds like the max of an 8-bit number... anyway I was amazed that the boost pressure is over 1.55 bar (manifold pressure is 1 bar with engine off). My last foray into turbos was in 2001 with a 911 turbo and that was 'tweaked' to 1 bar from 0.7 bar. Amazed that a diesel is up so high, but I guess that is technology for us.... 3) Intake Air temp seemed to be ambient plus 10°C, so I guess it is being regulated with the intercooler. Does efficiency improve with lower charge temps, like petrol engines? |

Coolant temp should be quite constant near 90 C. Only during DPF regen it rises near 95 C. I assume the electric fan kicked in if coolant temp was that high?
If that really was the max actual boost pressure then there is either something wrong or the remap is very mild. Those figures should come even with stock map. Usually when these are mapped the boost pressure demand is set above 3 bar (absolute pressure). Intake air temp is measured by MAF. There is a separate boost air temp sensor on the boost hose from intercooler to throttle valve. Cooler air is always more dense so efficiency is better if boost air temp is lower. Injection quantities are slightly cut after boost air temp rises above 50 C. Especially if remapped these really gain a better intercooler like Wagner update.

How will I know if the electric fan is on? I've not picked up on the noise from inside...
Also, how do you tell if the DPF is in regen? |

Bump. Could someone please let me know how to detect the radiator fan from inside the car? If it's as simple as "you'll hear it" then it aint coming on. I have verified it works by turning on the air con with the car stopped and the boot open...
