keyfob not unlocking or locking car
we went out a few days ago and our x5 e70 would not open with the key fob? opens all doors and boot with the metal key but alarm sounds when opening the door. we dont have comfort access on the car. i have checked all the fuses for the locking system all are fine. i have tried the re programme steps from the internet - key in ign on hold the unlock button and then press the lock button etc has anyone come across this before? and how was it fixed? also can anyone share on how to code the interior lighting to have led bulbs, i have the ipna software from the e46 we used to have is there a way to use this to resolve the key issue? thanks any advise would be much appreciated |

You can confirm the key fob is sending signals at a store that sells batteries for remotes they often will have a tester that lights up.
Often the switches fail so test each button that it lights up the tester. Once to confirm that find a YouTube video showing how to reprogram the key fob and realize you have to do all keys you have at the same time.

Again, it sounds like you tried to perform the key initialization procedure for the old e38/e39/e46/e53 BMWs that have a GM (general module) that is the control module for central locking. The e70 came with a completely different communication bus that has totally different modules and systems. The central locking system for the e70 is under the control of the CAS module...which then incorporates the use of the JBE (junction box electronics) and FRM (footwell module) for lock/unlock of the doors and tailgate. The early remote key that didn’t have CA (comfort access) used fobs that have a rechargeable battery that requires that the remote be inserted in the SLOT in the dash to keep it charged. How often do you insert the fob to keep the battery charged?
