XDrive 35i - MHD tune exceeds transmission torque limit?
Even the 'stage 1' is advertised as supporting up to 520nm of torque. Its my understanding that the zf 8hp 45 transmission in the x5 is rated at 450nm, 50 higher than stock engine output. I've also read that there's an electronic sensor in the transmission that limits torque to a safe level. Please could anyone share some insight on any of this, whether it's accurate or misinformed? I'd also appreciate any direct experience from people who have used the MHD system on their 35i. Thank you very much. |

Look into XHP. It raises the tq limit/pressures etc, so that the tune isnt causing microslip. Which can then lead to increased wear and tear.
I have a stage 2+ X5 MHD, running XHP Stage 3 transmission tune as well.

Interesting, thank you.
So the transmission can mechanically handle the higher output, it's just the software limiting it? |
