Emergency parking brake will not release manually
Need some help please. Car was used today without issue, My wife parked the car on our driveway which in on a slight decline, She attempts to go back out an hour later and hears what she states as a loud high pitched noise from the back when unlocking the car?? Gets in and has the yellow park light illuminated and the check control message on the main screen. Car will not move reverse or drive. I tried using the emergency park brake release tool in the back and there is no resistance at all when pulling up, It also doesn't do anything. I have pulled up quite hard and nothing. I have removed fuses 10 & 94 for up to 10 minutes in the hope it would reset but nothing. In a bit of a pickle here, We can't move the car at all, Its sitting in front of the garage where we have our other car that is usable lol. Why would the emergency brake release cable not work? As mentioned car is parked forwards on a slight incline on our driveway, Would they apply added pressure on the parking brake? Surely there must be a way to release it. The car is completely incomparable at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Use a bit of force and pull hard with one big go. Requires a couple of tries sometimes to unlock. When it does release, u know the handbrake light will still remain amber/orange, and you will need to actually give the gas a bit of a little push to drive the car off. Yeah i figured the brake is gone
I don't know how much more force i can apply trying to pull the release cable with that flimsy plastic release tool. I may have to use some channel lock pliers. I will try again and see if that works |

This cable aint moving. I have tried extreme force and it aint budging. I think i am going to have to remove the entire E-brake system. What a absolute joke

Got it worked free but required using a mounting point where the cable sits and using a set of pliers turning the wire around them until the brake released. I am just happy i can move the thing.
What a PITA |
