Replaced timing chain, now I have a noisy clackity vacuum pump
My vacuum pump is making this awful loud 'clackity clunking clapping' noise. Most noticeable when you take the oil cap off. Here's a vid from another forum member that shows it perfectly: Thread here I'm scouring the internet trying to find a way to fix the noise. I recently replaced the timing chain and sprockets on my X5 3.0SD (35d) M57 engine. When I started it back up for the first time, almost had a heart attack hearing that noise. -Thought I'd gotten the timing wrong! But no, I ran the engine with the vacuum pump removed and noise went away. It wasn't making the noise before I did the timing chain. So I assume it's something I've done. I've tried reseating it a bunch of times. New O-ring where it seals into the engine block. But still there. Just not sure. Anyone know? -Sim |

Troubleshoot, troubleshoot!
When you have done work and then a problem starts immediately after, check your work carefully and check for error codes. https://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/12/...WSfyZ3JoGjlJsi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoJcBuq3ATI
