Comfort Access Locks only not working

Just purchased 2013 50i. Comfort access not working for doors only. Key fob works fine. Rear hatch will open and start car but not door lock/unlock all doors. Since it's all 4 doors, could it just be a fuse. Where is the fuse box?

Same behavior with more than one transmitter, (key fob?)

You can or cannot open and lock the doors by touch? Only the fob buttons will not unlock or lock the doors, is that correct?

If the above is all true, I would first suspect the key fob and not the car electronics. Any button, i.e. the hatch open button, suggests the car electronics are working correctly.

If touching (or pulling,) on a door handle does not unlock the door when you are holding the fob, then there might be issues with the vehicle.

Can you start the car, without placing the fob in the holder?

You have put a new battery in the fob?

I had taken my X5 for service. They told me comfort access was 'all jacked up.' Turns out the battery was dead in that fob.

CAS etc..

I replaced the key fob battery. I can start the car w/ out the key fob inserted. I can open hatch w/out using key fob.

However, I removed the drivers door handle and there was a smell of burned/electrical. So that suggests a short I believe. However, it's weird that none of the doors will work. I still need to check the fuse... guessing under the passenger side glove box.

If it's a pain... I won't mess w/ it. Nice feature but not worth the hassle.

There is enough pieces of your system working, to rule out a fuse problem.

Can you open hatch with the fob, or button on hatch only? Car locked, the hatch button will open with fob near?

Having the wiring diagram is essential. I would have to look if the handles are wired together, or separate circuits. Certainly burned electronics is not a good sign.

Need to determine if it is a transmitter issue or door antenna issue.

Lock all doors. Go to each door and see if it will unlock by touch or pulling the handle.

That reminds me of a troubleshooting video, the comfort access module had failed. You have scanned for codes?

Personally, I never paid much attention to Comfort Access. But would not want to live without it now. Still irritated that the deadbolt on my house will not open and close when I touch it. :-)

Check fuse 132. This controls all of the door handles.

From what has already been described, the other fuses should be fine.

Getting a scan of the car would reveal more information.
