Angel eye halo query

I have 2011, wife has 2012.

Hers all four halos light for daytime running. Mine just the inner pair.

I looked though options for coding and I've found settings for how bright but not for which ones.

Did I just coincidentally buy a used e70 where both matching halos are defective?

Did BMW just have the "high beam" sockets light up with halo? It does appear to have the Halo rings just very weird both would be out.

About 150,000 miles and the HID low/high beam recently died so I could see both went out; that could have happened over a long period and PO just went "wink" mode for a while.

Is yours a "transition" LCI E70 Andrew? Does yours have halogen (yellowish hue) and hers have a more whitish hue? The newer E70 uses a much brighter and more even halo lighting setup. Maybe even LED? I have pre-LCI so mine is the halogen and exhibits the lighting as you describe where the high beam rings light up. In actuality all 4 rings are lighting, but the low beams are MUCH dimmer than the highs due to the light distribution of the halo fiber optic tubes.

That's what I see: the inner ring bright and the outer are on but like 20% as bright . They seem pretty white i didn't get incan vibe.

It doesn't bother me much but it is quite different from wife's.

I found a couple significant differences between the 11 and 12; most significant: I can't play music from my phone! What the fuk.

Perhaps someone changed the bulbs in yours to LED. I did the same for the "white" color spectrum look before eventually resorting to surgery, but the brighter high beam and dimmer low beam remained. When I opened the headlights to retrofit some aftermarket LED rings I saw why that was. The bulbs for the halos sit right behind the high beam rings. So the light has to travel further to illuminate the low beam rings. It's an old design that they eventually improved upon, as seen on your wife's later LCI.

Thanks for the clarity. My car had all the push in bulbs changed to led so I would expect they changed the Halo bulbs also
